Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers about offline mode, AI assist, exports (YOLO, COCO, Pascal VOC), licensing, and privacy. Optimized for quick scanning — and friendly to search.

Do I need an account to use BoundMi?

No login required. BoundMi is an offline image annotation tool you can run without creating an account. If you purchase a license or add-ons, activation ties to your email + device. After activation, you can work fully offline again.

Will BoundMi send my images to the cloud?

No. By default, your images and annotations stay on your machine. The app does not auto-upload datasets. When you use AI Assist, the app sends only the minimal requests needed to get suggestions to BoundMi’s own model services. We do not accept external endpoints.

Can I bring my own AI endpoint or model?

No. For privacy, consistency, and supportability, BoundMi blocks user-supplied endpoints and custom models. AI Assist runs through BoundMi-maintained models only — no model injection, no third‑party endpoints. If you require a private on‑prem model, contact us to discuss enterprise options.

How do I get AI-assisted boxes or masks?

Upgrade to a plan that includes the AI add-ons, then briefly connect the app to the internet to activate. The AI toggle turns green when ready (usually within minutes; allow up to 2 hours). Open the Prompt toolbar and use the AI buttons to propose bounding boxes or polygon masks. Review and refine as needed, then export.

What export formats are supported?

BoundMi is a YOLO label editor and COCO JSON editor with clean outputs. You can export YOLO labels, COCO JSON, Pascal VOC XML, PNG masks for segmentation, plus JSON, CSV, and VGG formats. Projects are readable JSON, so custom converters are trivial.

See Features for details.

Which platforms and performance should I expect?

BoundMi runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Labeling is CPU‑friendly (no GPU required). A typical modern laptop handles large image folders well. For best results, keep your project on a fast local disk and close heavy apps during long sessions.

How does licensing work on devices?

Licenses are tied to a device. You may deactivate one device and move the key to another. Add‑ons follow the same rule. See Pricing for plan specifics and Cancellations to manage renewals.

Is there a refund?

No refunds — please try the free build first. We’re happy to help with configuration. Read the full Refund Policy.

How do cancellations work?

Cancel any time to stop future renewals. Your plan remains active through the paid term, and you keep your projects locally. Cancellations don’t retroactively refund past periods. Details: Cancellations.

Where are my annotations stored?

Alongside your images in a project folder you control — ideal for Git/DVC or simple backups. Nothing is stored on our servers by default.

What’s the difference between YOLO, COCO, and VOC exports?

Does BoundMi offer an API or endpoints for inference?

No public inference API and no user‑configurable endpoints. BoundMi’s AI Assist uses BoundMi‑maintained services only. For automation, rely on our standard exports (YOLO/COCO/VOC/PNG/CSV/JSON) inside your own scripts and training pipelines.

How is my data protected?

BoundMi is privacy‑first by design: no accounts, offline‑first, and no default uploads. When the app connects (e.g., to activate a license), traffic uses TLS. Read our Privacy Policy for what we collect (and what we don’t).

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email support@boundmi.com with steps, screenshots, and the app version. We triage quickly.
